About the logo

The logo of the Creating Knowledge CKVIII conference is meant to portray the Reykjavík skyline as seen from the Reykjavík bay area. To the right is the image of the conference and concert hall Harpa, next you see the skyscrapers of Skuggahverfi, a residential area, and to the left is Hallgrímskirkja church.

The designers of the logo worked with the words from the conference?s title, i.e. creative and knowledge, and tried to achieve a graphic connection between the two words. The basis for the idea is connections between points, as if you would draw a trajectory on a map and collect information on every point on the way, but not necessarily in a straight line, or when you gather information or knowledge from different locations as we information specialists often need to do. By connecting the information or knowledge points with lines you get the creative part of knowledge, and thus might imagine a computer algorithm which gathers information from different points, leaving a trajectory depicting the Reykjavík skyline.
