Flying carpet: Intercultural get-together

Examples of activities which can make the local library promote awareness of the positive value of cultural diversity in our society.

?Flying carpet? is an intercultural project based on my experiences as a citizen and as a teacher in Denmark. The ideas are now being realized at Reykjavík City Library in cooperation with other cultural institutions, The Intercultural house, social service centers, schools, organisations and individals of all origin living in Reykjavík. The goals are to create a stimulating and lively frame in wich different cultures meet in mutual respect and understanding. Cultures meet through music, dance, visual art, film, cooking, litterature, fairy-tales, poetry, storytelling, drama, play and movement.
