In 2006 the Danish Agency for Libraries and Media published a strategy for libraries in the knowledge society. The strategy ?From information to knowledge? has as its general vision a library which functions as a resource centre in knowledge society?s intellectual infrastructure. A library with focus on the users and not the collections. On promoting all kinds of media more actively, providing new activities, new learning, and developing new digital services. A library with a new physical space, that embrace the media and activities a modern library should be able to. In her presentation Pernille Schaltz tells about the developments which are taking place in Denmark at present ? and among other things about the important national debate about libraries which these developments have caused.
